OUR HISTORY

Mowafak (aka Mofi) is the owner and chef at Tigris Grill.

Mofi was 18 when he left home to study mechanical engineering in Prague (Czechoslovakia then). He missed home and his home food, so he started cooking at the dorm. His dorm became the place where all who missed home could come and eat. He started collecting recipes from his parents and others and added his own touch to them. By the time he earned his masters degree in engineering he had become the dorm chef.

When he went home he had to take care of his uncle’s restaurant and before he knew it, he had became a restaurateur. After leaving his country, he opened a restaurant and a catering business in Sweden before finally settling in the US and opening Tigris Grill. All the recipes at Tigris Grill are his own, in particular the Falafel, which is his own secret recipe.
